Terry R. Cassreino is an award-winning journalist and freelance writer who currently lives and works in Madison County, Miss., with his wife and two children.
Cassreino, 60, teaches 10th Grade English and high school journalism at St. Joseph Catholic School in Madison, Miss. He also owns Cassreino Consulting LLC, a media and political consulting company that helps people and businesses manage issues and work closely with Mississippi, regional and national news media.
Before teaching and forming his own consulting company, Cassreino spent more than 22 years in newspapers as an award-winning political and investigative reporter, an editor and a polotical columnist. His career has included 15-years with The Sun Herald in Biloxi, four years with The Meridian Star and one year with the Hattiesburg American.
In September 2006, Cassreino left the Hattiesburg American to take a position as communications director for the Mississippi Democratic Party -- giving the organization a strong voice on key issues for the first time in years.
Cassreino formed Cassreino Consulting in February 2009 and managed the May 2009 Jackson mayoral campaign for Brenda Scott. In late May, he took a job as communications director with the Housing Authority of New Orleans -- affording him an opportunity to return to his hometown for the first time since 1981.
Cassreino and his family returned to Madison in July 2010 so he could further develop his consulting business and begin teaching.
His wife, Pam, also is a teacher at St. Joe. They have two children, Camryn, 16, and Matthew, 14, who attend St. Joseph Catholic School. The Cassreinos attend St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gluckstadt.
